Australia opener Matthew Hayden showered rich praise on India captain Anil Kumble and called him an unusual bowler and champion cricketer after the opening day of the first Test.
Kumble took five for 84 off 25 overs on the opening day to help bowl out the hosts for 343 in the first innings.
Hayden scored a brilliant 124, adding 135 runs partnership for the opening wicket with Phil Jaques, who made 66. But the Australian batting came undone against Kumble's guile and lost wickets regularly, with Zaheer also claiming four for 94.
Hayden also praised Zaheer Khan and lauded his performance saying: "Zaheer has bowled well in the last year and has been quite challenging in the conditions."
