Jagmohan Dalmiya: End of an era

Not only did Dalmiya make BCCI a cash-rich body, he also made India's cricketers affluent. From the mere hundreds they got when he started out, the cricketers now deal in lakhs. And that's only the match fee. It spins into millions when you talk of advertising revenue.

Without a doubt, Dalmiya is the man sole responsible for increasing the cricketers' profile to such a level.

In 2004, Indian cricketers were also given central contracts, which meant stability and assurance of income in a once largely insecure profession.
