Jagmohan Dalmiya: End of an era
When Sharad Pawar won the Board of Control for Cricket in India elections on Tuesday, it signaled the end of a regime that was parochial but highly profitable.
Jagmohan Dalmiya introduced cricket to the world of marketing. He brought in the money, the sponsors, and advertised the values of Indian cricket till it became the biggest brand in the country. He changed cricket from just a sport to a national obsession.
With the number of stakeholders in Indian cricket at its highest and assets worth $250m, Dalmiya handed over the reigns of the world's richest cricket body to Pawar.
