India vs South Africa, 1st ODI

Match Report | Scorecard | Complete coverage

Makhaya Ntini drew first blood for South Africa. He dismissed opener Virender Sehwag for one, caught by a diving Ashwell Prince at point.

India were struggling at five for three, after South Africa captain Graeme Smith won the toss and chose to bowl first, but Yuvraj Singh struck a patient 103 to steer India out of serious trouble to a total of 249 for nine in the first one-day international in Hyderabad on Wednesday.

But the runs did not prove enough as South Africa knocked over the target in 48.5 over to beat India by five wickets.
