Salim Durrani played 29 Tests for India, scoring 1202 runs at 25.04, with a century and seven half-centuries. He also claimed 75 wickets at 35.42, with a best of 6 for 73, clearly underlining his utility as an all-rounder.

He also acted in a Bollywood's 'Chraitra' in 1973 with Parveen Babi.

An exciting batsman, he was also known as 'Sixer Durrani' as he had a reputation for hitting sixes on the crowd's demand. He was a fine left-arm spin bowler too.

'One bad season should not be a yardstick to judge Ganguly'

- Salim Durani

Ganguly is still a very good player and should be treated with respect.

Cricket is a game of ups and downs. All great cricketers go through a bad patch. One bad season should not be a yardstick to judge a great player like Ganguly.

He has matured into a very good captain. Under his captaincy India won so many matches abroad. It is just that he is going through a bad patch, which, I am sure, he will come out of very soon.

When he was getting runs, everybody was praising him and saying he has a good technique. Now just because he is not getting runs, he is being criticized, which is unfair.

My advice to him is keep your eyes open and your ears shut. People can say what they want, but he must just concentrate on his game.

The county stint with Glamorgan would help him a lot. Playing more cricket helps a cricketer. He can work on his technique and rectify the faults.

As time goes by your batting reflexes become slower. You have to constantly improvise your game in the nets. This is what Ganguly needs to do. Just practice hard in the nets and he will come back stronger.
