Who did it first?

The first bowler to take 100 wickets in Test matches was Lancashire and England left-arm slow bowler Johnny Briggs.

He reached the landmark just before tea on the first day of the fourth Test against Australia in Sydney on February 1, 1895, in his 25th Test.

Briggs, who played for England between 1862-1902, was Wisden Cricketer of the Year in 1889. He passed away on January 11, 1902, at a young age of 39 years.
