In the absence of Muttiah Muralitharan, Tillekaratne Dilshan (centre) and Upul Chandana restricted the Indian batsmen.

Dilshan flighted the ball well and returned Sri Lanka's most successful bowler on the day with four wickets for 29 runs. He bowled unchanged and did not concede a single boundary.

The off-spinner bowled Laxman through the gate, trapped Rahul Dravid leg before wicket first ball and both Mahendra Dhoni (20) and all-rounder Suresh Raina (left) were caught and bowled.
