Sachin Tendulkar brought the third day of the fourth Test alive with delightful stroke-play after openers Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag were out early.
Tendulkar scored 55 off 83 balls to lead India's fightback before he was caught by Michael Clarke off Nathan Hauritz. He put on 91 runs for the third wicket with V V S Laxman.
India bowled Australia out for 93 in their second innings to win the Test by 13 runs on the third day. Australia won the series 2-1, their first triumph in India since 1969.
