Australia opener Damien Martyn in action during day one of the first Test against Sri Lanka at Marrara Oval in Darwin, Australia.
Langer and Matthew Hayden shared an opening stand of 72 before three wickets fell for eight runs either side of lunch.
Australia folded for 207, its lowest first-innings total on home soil since 1992-93, but hit back to reduce the touring side to 43 for three by close of play.
